Chip in today to elect Dem govs across the country >>
Democratic governors are leading the fight against Donald Trump and his administration – and they need your help. Trump and his allies have hundreds of millions of dollars to attack our candidates, and we have to make sure we’ve got the resources to fight back. With 36 races on the map this November, 80% of Americans will cast their vote for their next governor. We need to invest NOW to expand our map, win in battleground states, protect our blue firewall of Dem govs, and flip critical states from red to blue. Can Dem govs count on you to chip in right now?
DGA Statement on Joey Gilbert’s Entrance to Nevada Republican Primary for Governor
This week, far-right Trump lawyer Joey Gilbert announced his candidacy for the Republican nomination for Nevada governor.
Democratic Governors Association Executive Director Noam Lee released the following statement:
“Joey Gilbert is a Trump crony and his candidacy will drag the NV GOP primary to the extreme right. His entrance into the already crowded field will escalate what is sure to be a messy, chaotic Republican primary. Gilbert, who called the crowds at the January 6th insurrection “beautiful,” wasted no time saying that any candidate who doesn’t make bogus ‘election integrity’ their number one issue is ‘lost, confused, or too stupid to be running.’ He even took a swing at fellow GOP candidate Sheriff Joe Lombardo for not being extreme enough.
“Gilbert is a fringe candidate who only cares about himself, COVID conspiracy theories and Trump’s ‘Big Lie.’ He spends too much time bragging about his boxing career and amplifying far-right conspiracies and not enough time showing how he’ll better the lives of Nevadans.
“Gilbert has spent his career advocating for liars and grifters, and he’ll do the same if elected governor. In the race to the extreme right, Gilbert will drag any other Republican down with him and show that the NV GOP is more loyal to Donald Trump than the people of Nevada. Democratic Gov. Steve Sisolak has delivered on campaign promises time and time again, and we look forward to re-electing him to a second term as governor.”
