DGA Statement on Joe Cunningham Winning the Democratic Nomination for South Carolina Governor
DGA Chair North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper released the following statement in response to Rep. Joe Cunningham’s victory in the Democratic primary for South Carolina governor:
“Joe Cunningham has a strong record of working across the aisle and knows how to win tough fights for South Carolina families. As a congressman, he championed legislation to get guns out of the hands of criminals, protect South Carolina’s coastline, and help veterans secure the health benefits they are owed.
“Now, Joe is running for governor on a positive vision to expand Medicaid to 180,000 South Carolinians, fix roads and bridges, raise teacher pay, and improve public schools. The DGA looks forward to supporting Joe as he fights to change how Columbia works and make life better for South Carolina families.”
