DGA Communications Director Sam Newton released the following statement on the Michigan gubernatorial debate:
“Anyone who watched the debate tonight saw that Jocelyn Benson is the only candidate who is ready to stand up for Michiganders and get real results that make life more affordable. In contrast, John James shamelessly lied through his teeth in what can only be described as a genuinely humiliating attempt to run from his record of enriching himself while voting to raise costs – including in support of the war in Iran six different times. It’s clear Benson has the momentum heading into the final stretch, as James rapidly approaches his third statewide loss since 2018.”
