DGA Statement on Jake Corman’s Entrance to Pennsylvania GOP Gubernatorial Primary
Yesterday, Senate President Pro Tempore Jake Corman announced his candidacy for the Republican nomination for governor of Pennsylvania.
DGA Executive Director Noam Lee released the following statement:
“Jake Corman has shown where his priorities lie — he’s desperately trying to win over the far-right in a crowded field that’s out-of-touch with Pennsylvania values. Corman may have believed that he could clear the field, but instead, he’s facing a messy primary where he’ll have to duke it out for Trump’s loyal base.
“Instead of focusing on the everyday challenges Pennsylvania families are facing like fixing infrastructure, lowering the cost of health care and improving education — the GOP primary field’s only focus is promoting Trump’s Big Lie, and Corman is no different. Corman is championing issuing subpoenas to get the social security numbers of 9 million residents and giving them to inexperienced third-party contractors, threatening Pennsylvanians’ personal and financial privacy. He also booted likely primary rival Doug Mastriano from his role on the bogus election audit, a move that foreshadows a brutal primary of GOP infighting.
“There’s no telling how far these candidates will go to distinguish themselves from the pack in their race to the far-right. Pennsylvanians deserve real solutions, not conspiracy theories, and they’ll reject the GOP at the ballot box next year.”
