Today, Democratic Governors Association Executive Director Meghan Meehan-Draper released the following statement on the inauguration of Donald Trump:
“As Donald Trump brings chaos and extremism back to the White House, Americans can look to the Democratic governors who represent the majority of the country’s population to continue making life better for working families and defend fundamental freedoms.
“Democratic governors have earned the trust and support of Americans across party lines — including in states won by Trump — by focusing on bringing people together and finding solutions to the biggest challenges families are facing. As a result, they’ve been able to protect access to affordable health care, invest in public schools, create good-paying jobs, and cut costs — all while defending voting rights and reproductive freedom, and appointing independent judges who will uphold the Constitution.
“The DGA will keep holding GOP governors and candidates accountable for any actions that hurt the people of their states, and work to elect more Democratic governors to expand and strengthen the firewall against MAGA extremism.”
