DGA Statement on House Republicans Voting to Gut Medicaid
DGA Senior Communications Advisor Izzi Levy released the following statement on House Republicans’ budget that could slash Medicaid by up to $880 billion:
“Instead of working to lower costs and make life easier for working families, Republicans in Congress voted tonight to strip Americans of their access to affordable health care, jeopardizing the physical and financial wellbeing of millions of their constituents and threatening the future of Medicaid expansion in 40 states.
“Across the country, Democratic governors have worked to protect health care coverage and bring down the cost of care for working families, including increasing access for millions of people by expanding Medicaid. Republican governors and gubernatorial candidates across the country must tell the people of their states why they support these cruel and extreme efforts to deny Americans the care they need.”
