DGA Statement on House Republicans Putting Medicaid on the Chopping Block

DGA Communications Director Sam Newton released the following statement in response to reports that House Republicans, a group that includes Reps. Andy Biggs, Byron Donalds, John James, Mike Lawler, and Elise Stefanik, are “considering unraveling a key part of Obamacare” by slashing funding for Medicaid in the upcoming GOP budget bill:

“Instead of working to lower costs and make life easier for families, House Republicans are pushing to rip away health care from millions of Americans, including children, families, veterans, and those in rural communities. Republicans can’t be trusted to put their constituents before Trump’s extreme and unpopular agenda, and it’s already causing big problems for DC Republicans eyeing statewide runs. Every Republican governor and gubernatorial candidate must answer for why they support their party’s cruel and extreme efforts to gut affordable health care in order to pay for expensive tax handouts to the ultra-wealthy.”
