DGA Statement on Governor Rauner’s Budget Failure
Moments ago, it became clear that Governor Rauner has once again failed to deliver a budget for the people of Illinois. Sam Salustro, the Democratic Governors Association Illinois Communications Director, released the following statement:
“As Illinois ends its third legislative cycle without a budget, Bruce Rauner’s legacy is etched in stone – the governor who failed to lead. Governor Rauner refused to put the people of Illinois first and thus was unable to perform the basic function of a state executive and pass a budget. The budget impasse will only lead to more job losses, higher debt, deeper service cuts, and a weakened education system, and ultimately continue to hurt Illinois families. The people of Illinois deserve a Governor who will show real leadership and deliver a functioning government.
Bruce Rauner has failed as Governor of Illinois.”
