DGA Statement on Governor-Elect Tim Walz’s Victory in Minnesota

DGA Chair Governor Jay Inslee (D-WA) issued the following statement on Governor-Elect Tim Walz’s victory in Minnesota’s gubernatorial race:
“Congratulations to Governor-Elect Tim Walz on his victory tonight in Minnesota,” said Gov. Inslee. “What a victory for Minnesota to have a teacher in the governor’s office.
“I am honored to count Tim as a friend, from our work together in the House. Now, I look forward to working alongside him as governor. I have seen Tim’s work up close and I know he will be steadfast in his commitment to improving the lives of his constituents. The lessons instilled in him as a teacher, a 24-year veteran of the Army National Guard, and Congressman will serve him well as governor of Minnesota.
“Tim’s victory is a victory for all of Minnesota. He ran on the basic premise that a rising tide will lift all boats. By focusing on bringing people together from every region of the state, he showed that presenting an optimistic vision for the future beats stoking fear and division.
“Tim will build on the eight years of progress made by Governor Mark Dayton, and ensure Minnesota’s brightest days are still to come.”
