DGA Statement on Governor-Elect Steve Sisolak’s Victory in Nevada
DGA Chair Governor Jay Inslee (D-WA) issued the following statement on Governor-Elect Steve Sisolak’s victory in Nevada’s gubernatorial race, a significant pickup for Democrats:
“Congratulations to Governor-Elect Steve Sisolak on his victory in Nevada,” said Gov. Inslee. “Steve has always been a consensus-builder who works hard to improve the lives of his constituents. His campaign focused on strengthening Nevada’s public education system, boosting workforce training programs, protecting access to health care, and he’ll make those his top priorities as governor.
“Steve will continue building on Nevada’s progress by diversifying its economy through emerging industries like clean technology and increasing funding for public education. Steve’s commitment to making Nevada better for every family was clear when I campaigned with him in Nevada.
“The DGA targeted Nevada as a top pick-up opportunity through its ‘Unrig the Map’ initiative. By investing early, we were able to ensure Nevadans will see fairer representation after the 2020 Census.”
