DGA Statement on Governor-Elect Keisha Lance Bottoms’ Victory in Georgia
DGA Chair Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear released the following statement on Keisha Lance Bottoms being elected the next governor of the state of Georgia:
“Tonight, Keisha Lance Bottoms was elected the next governor of Georgia in a groundbreaking moment for our country. After nearly 30 years, Georgia will finally have a Democratic governor, and the United States will see the first Black woman ever elected governor in American history. Governor-elect Bottoms ran a strong and focused campaign against one of the best-funded Republican candidates in the country – and she won by leading with her values as a mom of four and focusing relentlessly on affordability, Medicaid expansion, and building Georgia’s future. The DGA was proud to be all-in as the largest backer of her campaign and looks forward to working with Governor-elect Bottoms as she works to deliver for Georgians during her historic first term.” The DGA invested nearly $20 million to help Governor-elect Bottoms beat Rick Jackson, including investments immediately at the start of the general election. The DGA was her largest donor.”
