With 36 races on the map this November, 80% of Americans will cast their vote for their next governor. We need to invest NOW to expand our map, win in battleground states, protect our blue firewall of Dem govs, and flip critical states from red to blue. Can Dem govs count on you to chip in right now?
DGA Statement on Governor-Elect David Crowley’s Victory in Wisconsin
DGA Statement on Governor-Elect David Crowley’s Victory in Wisconsin
DGA Chair Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear released the following statement on David Crowley being elected the next governor of the state of Wisconsin:
“Congratulations to David Crowley on being elected the next governor of Wisconsin. David’s historic victory makes him the first Black governor of the Badger State, and his powerful story of overcoming hardship, homelessness, and instability as a child has made him uniquely prepared to be a leader Wisconsinites can count on. Throughout the campaign, David earned the trust of voters across party lines by vowing to lower costs, invest in public safety, and expand economic opportunity. Wisconsin families also know they can trust him to deliver because that’s what he has done as Milwaukee County Executive: balancing the budget, cutting property taxes, and successfully fighting for bipartisan funding for public safety. Governor-elect Crowley will hit the ground running on day one to deliver for Wisconsin families, and the DGA is proud to be with him every step of the way.”
The DGA-backed group Protect Our Wisconsin spent over $22 million in Wisconsin, including running ads starting in July to hold Tom Tiffany accountable (examples here, here, here, and here). Governor-elect Crowley overcame $115 million in spending by national Republicans and three MAGA billionaires, and his landmark win also marks the first time in Wisconsin history that two Democratic governors have been elected back-to-back.
