DGA Statement on Governor-Elect Cindy Holscher’s Victory in Kansas
DGA Chair Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear released the following statement on Cindy Holscher being elected the next governor of the state of Kansas:
“Congratulations to Cindy Holscher on being elected the next governor of Kansas. As state senator, Cindy brought both parties together to deliver for Kansas, working to end the Brownback experiment and eliminate the sales tax on groceries. She defied the odds and won this race by running on clear plans to take on special interests and make life more affordable for Kansas families. Cindy has spent her career fighting for everyday Kansans, and she will continue to work across the aisle to fully fund public schools and lower property taxes as governor. The DGA is proud to have supported Governor-elect Holscher’s campaign and looks forward to working with her in her first term.”
The DGA and its allied entities invested over $6 million in Kansas. This race was the RGA’s top flip opportunity and national Republicans spent over $20 million. This is also the first time in history that Kansas has elected two consecutive Democratic governors.
