DGA Statement on Governor-Elect Aaron Ford’s Victory in Nevada

DGA Chair Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear released the following statement on Aaron Ford being elected the next governor of the state of Nevada:

“Congratulations to Aaron Ford on being elected the next governor of Nevada. Aaron is no stranger to overcoming the odds, and now he’s making history as the first Black governor in Nevada. He won because he stayed focused on driving down costs for working families and has been relentless in standing up for the people of his state as attorney general. Nevadans will have a champion in the governor’s office who will fight every day to lower costs, make health care more affordable, and ensure every family can get ahead. The DGA looks forward to working with Governor-elect Ford as he continues delivering for hardworking Nevadans throughout his first term.”

The DGA-backed group A More Affordable Nevada spent over $25 million in this race (examples here, here, and here). A More Affordable Nevada directly spent more than $4.5 million communicating to the Latino community in Nevada beginning in August. Additionally, A More Affordable Nevada’s support of the Nevada Democratic Party allowed them to invest more than $1.5 million in bilingual communications. Protecting the governorship in Nevada was the RGA’s top goal this cycle and Republicans poured over $55 million into this race.
