Today, DGA Communications Director Sam Newton released the following statement in response to Gov. Glenn Youngkin vetoing a bill protecting contraception access in Virginia late Friday evening – which the Washington Post noted solidified “his record as a hard-right Republican”:
“By vetoing this bill, Gov. Youngkin continues his assaults on reproductive freedom, and has ensured that access to reproductive health care will be on the ballot in the next race for Virginia governor. This also puts even more pressure on anti-choice extremists Lt. Gov. Winsome Sears and Attorney General Jason Miyares to explain why they refuse to support protecting the right to contraception in Virginia – especially as their fellow MAGA Republicans continue to attack reproductive rights every single day.”
