DGA Statement on Gov. Chris Sununu’s Announcement That He Will Seek Re-Election

Latest News

Today, Gov. Chris Sununu announced that he is seeking re-election as governor of New Hampshire and will not run for U.S. Senate.

DGA Executive Director Noam Lee released the following statement:

“After being relentlessly pursued by Mitch McConnell, Chris Sununu won’t run for Senate because even he knows his standing in New Hampshire is rapidly diminishing. But if he thinks he’s safe running for governor, he’s dead wrong.

“His disastrous record includes signing an abortion ban into law, standing by while his party defunded Planned Parenthood, and completely mismanaging the pandemic. In fact, New Hampshire was the only state in the entire country to reject federal funding to boost vaccinations — and now it’s last in New England for vaccinations. As a result, Sununu’s approval ratings have been on the decline since the summer.

“Meanwhile, New Hampshire Democrats are standing up for Granite State families, and the DGA is excited to help reject Sununu’s anti-choice, anti-health policies in 2022.”
