DGA Statement on Glenn Youngkin Barely Becoming Virginia GOP’s Nominee for Governor
The Democratic Governors Association released the following statement from executive director Noam Lee on Glenn Youngkin becoming the Virginia Republican nominee for governor:
“Glenn Youngkin barely survived this divisive, chaotic and incredibly low-turnout Republican primary because he pledged full loyalty to Donald Trump, no matter how much it hurts Virginians. Besides being stuck trying to pick up the pieces of the broken Virginia Republican Party, Youngkin is an out-of-touch and toxic candidate that’s running on an extreme agenda that includes supporting Trump’s false conspiracies about the 2020 election, opposing the critical federal COVID-19 relief passed in the American Rescue Plan, and attacking Medicaid expansion.
“Virginia families will reject Glenn Youngkin because they want to live in a Commonwealth with more opportunity for everyone and rebuild stronger than before this pandemic – not elect a far-right extremist who will drag Virginia wherever Trump leads him.”
