Democratic governors are leading the fight against Donald Trump and his administration – and they need your help. Trump and his allies have hundreds of millions of dollars to attack our candidates, and we have to make sure we’ve got the resources to fight back. With 36 races on the map this November, 80% of Americans will cast their vote for their next governor. We need to invest NOW to expand our map, win in battleground states, protect our blue firewall of Dem govs, and flip critical states from red to blue. Can Dem govs count on you to chip in right now?

DGA Statement on Former Donald Trump Economic Advisor Betsy McCaughey Running for Governor in Connecticut

DGA spokesperson Kevin Donohoe released the following statement in response to Betsy McCaughey running for governor in Connecticut:

“Betsy McCaughey has spent the last years of her career shilling for Donald Trump’s deeply unpopular agenda that is driving up costs for middle-class families. The last thing Connecticut families need right now is a Trump mouthpiece as their governor. With McCaughey in the race, this primary is a messy MAGA melee that will leave the eventual Republican nominee badly out of touch with Connecticut families.”

Connecticut’s GOP primary is less than a month old and is already a chaotic MAGA mess:

  • Erin Stewart kicked off the GOP infighting by touting her relationship with Donald Trump and smearing Ryan Fazio as an “insider” and a “wealthy, out-of-touch politician.” An outside money pro-Fazio group went scorched earth against Stewart before she even launched her campaign, releasing a mailer “that attacked Stewart’s record … and described her as ‘anti-Trump.’”
  • Now, Betsy McCaughey is adding to the chaos by bragging about her record as a political insider and her ties to Trump. As CT Insider reports, Trump’s endorsement will be a “wild card” in the race, with McCaughey “likely to hurt both [Fazio and Stewart] fairly equally.”
