DGA Statement on First Debate in NC-Gov
Today, the Democratic Governors Association released the following statement after the first debate between Attorney General Roy Cooper and Governor Pat McCrory in North Carolina’s race for governor:
“Like the captain of a ship that has veered off-course, Governor Pat McCrory today doubled down on a failed agenda of disastrous policies that are harming North Carolina’s economy,” said DGA communications director Jared Leopold. “McCrory arrogantly refused to change course on his 67 tax increases on families and small businesses, his deeply unpopular I-77 tolling plan, or the House Bill 2 crisis that has cost the state thousands of jobs. Today’s debate showed in stark light why Governor McCrory is the most vulnerable incumbent governor in the country in 2016.”
“The contrast in this race couldn’t be clearer,” Leopold continued. “North Carolinians know what they’re going to get with Pat McCrory: 4 more years of a failed partisan social agenda that has taken North Carolina backwards and harmed job growth. Attorney General Roy Cooper today laid out clear plans to move North Carolina forward with policies that strengthen the middle class, invest in schools and make the economy work for everyday North Carolinians.”
