DGA Statement on Dr. Tom Sherman Filing to Run for Governor in New Hampshire, As Sununu Facing Growing GOP Backlash

Last week, State Senator Dr. Tom Sherman was the only Democrat to file to run for governor of New Hampshire, stating: “New Hampshire deserves leadership we can trust to fight for lower costs for families, protect our public schools, and stand up for a woman’s right to choose.”

This comes as Gov. Chris Sununu is facing sharp backlash from Republicans in New Hampshire for putting his own political ambitions ahead of New Hampshire, including a growing “Censure Sununu” movement.

One GOP State Representative even said, “Chris Sununu has proven he is a deceitful man drunk on power and his own ego.”

“Chris Sununu is a self-serving politician who is facing a growing backlash from his own party. He’s hurt New Hampshire families by signing a dangerous abortion ban into law, was the deciding vote to defund Planned Parenthood, and cut public education funding while giving major tax giveaways to out-of-state corporations,” said DGA Deputy Communications Director Sam Newton. “Unlike Sununu, Dr. Tom Sherman stands with the majority of Granite Staters in defending reproductive rights and is fighting to lower costs and protect public schools. Dr. Sherman is the new leadership New Hampshire deserves.”
