DGA Statement on Donald Trump’s Endorsement of John James

DGA Communications Director Sam Newton issued the following statement in response to Donald Trump endorsing John James for governor in Michigan:

“After voting for Donald Trump’s disastrous and unpopular agenda of raising the cost of groceries and gas and cutting health care, John James is now counting on help from DC to bail out his struggling campaign that is sinking in the polls and facing intense backlash from grassroots Republicans. But just like Georgia and Iowa, Trump’s attempt to bail out James’ pathetic, no-show candidacy won’t stop this GOP primary from getting even messier and more expensive.

“In fact, every candidate Trump has endorsed for statewide office in Michigan has lost over the last decade and we look forward to ensuring John James joins that list of rejects for a third time.”
