DGA Statement on Derek Schmidt Becoming the Republican Nominee for Governor of Kansas
DGA Executive Director Noam Lee released the following statement on Derek Schmidt officially becoming the Republican nominee for governor in Kansas:
“Derek Schmidt is a self-serving, career politician who would drag Kansas back to the fiscal disasters and devastating cuts to public education he helped happen under Sam Brownback.
“Schmidt even said the state doesn’t need a balanced budget and defended Brownback’s education cuts in court with Kansas taxpayer dollars. He’s also repeatedly blocked Kansans from accessing better health care, voted to raise the food tax, and profited off a personal natural gas well while dragging his feet on investigating skyrocketing energy prices.”
“Kansas can’t afford to go back to Brownback and the DGA will continue holding Schmidt accountable for his failed record.”
