DGA Chair North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper released the following statement on Democratic candidate Les Gara advancing to the general election for governor of Alaska:

“As a former state representative and assistant attorney general, Les Gara is a proven fighter for the people of Alaska. Les is running for governor to increase opportunities for all Alaskans by supporting local businesses, creating good-paying jobs, investing in renewable energy projects that will lower families’ electric bills, and funding schools to help young people succeed. As the only pro-choice candidate in the race, he will fight to ensure Alaska remains a safe place for women to make their own reproductive health care decisions.
