DGA Statement on David Garcia’s Primary Victory in Arizona
Tonight, Democratic Governors Association Chair Gov. Jay Inslee (D-WA) released the following statement on David Garcia winning the Democratic nomination for governor in Arizona:
“Congratulations to David Garcia for winning the Democratic nomination for governor in Arizona. Arizona is a pick-up opportunity for Democrats in November, and David is the right candidate to turn back the clock on Gov. Ducey’s policies, which have harmed everyday Arizonans.
“David’s long career of public service, both as a veteran and as an educator, is exactly what Arizona needs right now. He has dedicated his life to serving his fellow Arizonans and working to better his community. David understands the needs of Arizona’s education system and is well equipped to provide teachers and students the tools they need to succeed. After four years of mismanagement and chronic underfunding, he will lead the state’s schools in the right direction.
“For the third time this month, Democratic primary voters have selected a teacher to run for governor. President Trump and Republican governors like Doug Ducey have willfully ignored the voices of America’s teachers. It’s time to put teachers like David Garcia in charge. Along with fellow educators like Tim Walz and Tony Evers, David will be an education leader on the ballot for governor this November.”
“Arizona families can count on David to protect access to affordable healthcare and build a future where all Arizonans prosper. I look forward to working with David to elect him in November.”
