DGA Statement on Dave Reichert Officially Filing to be on the Ballot for WA-Gov
DGA Deputy Communications Director Izzi Levy released the following statement on former congressman Dave Reichert filing for the ballot in Washington’s governor’s race:
“Dave Reichert may have made it onto the ballot but his problems are just getting started. In the coming months, Reichert will have to do damage control on all fronts, from trying to win back the support of the GOP base who resoundingly snubbed him with their endorsement of disgraced former school board member Semi Bird, to having to explain his record of rubber-stamping Trump’s agenda in Congress and voting repeatedly to deny Washingtonians their reproductive rights and strip away health care access. No matter what he says or does, Reichert’s extreme record and toxic agenda will be on full display.”
Reichert’s ballot filing follows his lengthy sore loser tour after he backed out of the Washington State Republican Party’s endorsement process when it became clear that “he knew he was going to lose.”
Reichert has also continued to face scrutiny for his extreme and out-of-touch agenda, including telling supporters behind closed doors that “marriage is between a man and a woman,” touting an endorsement from a sheriff who said “ex-wives should be killed,” and voting repeatedly during his congressional career to restrict abortion rights and defund Planned Parenthood.
