DGA Statement on Dave Reichert Becoming The Republican Nominee in Washington

DGA Executive Director Meghan Meehan-Draper released the following statement in response to Dave Reichert securing a spot on the November ballot for Governor in Washington

“Dave Reichert is just another MAGA extremist who has spent his career voting to ban abortion and restrict reproductive freedoms, threatening Washingtonians’ access to health care, and serving as a rubber-stamp for Donald Trump’s extreme agenda in Congress.“None of that has changed now that Reichert is running for governor, except that he waits until he’s behind closed doors to reveal the extent of his extremism, including joking about  threatening to shoot journalists, denying the human causes of climate change, and telling anti-choice extremists that he would use the power of the governor’s office to ‘unravel’ abortion access across the state. If there were any doubt about where he stands, Reichert has even secretly promised his supporters that he is only pretending to be a moderate because he knows how far out of step his true agenda is with Washington voters.

“Washington voters see right through Dave Reichert’s facade, and they know they cannot trust him to protect their freedoms or take on the most urgent challenges they face. The DGA looks forward to holding Reichert accountable for his toxic record and making sure voters reject him and his MAGA extremism in November.”
