DGA Statement on Bob Stefanowski’s Entrance to Connecticut Governor’s Race

Latest News

Today, Bob Stefanowski announced his candidacy for the Republican nomination for governor of Connecticut, opening up what is likely to be a nasty GOP primary that runs to the far-right.

DGA Executive Director Noam Lee released the following statement:

“Bob Stefanowski ran his first campaign on a harmful, right-wing agenda that would have bankrupted Connecticut families, and his announcement today makes it clear this time will be no different — gutting vital health care coverage, cutting public education, and opposing minimum wages entirely. Altogether, Stefanowski’s unaffordable plan to blow up the state budget still adds up to nothing more than dragging Connecticut back to the days of fiscal disasters, while even causing layoffs for nurses.

“In contrast, Gov. Ned Lamont’s strong and steady leadership has the state quickly recovering from the pandemic, getting people back to work and safely keeping schools open. He’s also delivered real results for families by attracting major new businesses, fixing the state’s budget, and expanding access to paid family leave and quality health care — all without raising taxes. That’s a record of success that Connecticut is ready to stick with for another four years.”
