DGA Response to Vernon Jones Dropping out of Georgia GOP Primary for Governor
Following the news that Vernon Jones is dropping out of the governor’s race and endorsing former Sen. David Perdue, DGA Deputy Communications Director Sam Newton released the following statement:
“The ‘scorched earth’ Georgia GOP primary is one candidate lighter — but it’s messier than ever. Vernon Jones exiting the race and endorsing David Perdue is Brian Kemp’s worst nightmare. And as Donald Trump continues to rally Georgia Republicans against Kemp, it just means this divisive primary will be even more about die-hard loyalty to Trump — instead of solving problems for Georgia families.
“Meanwhile, the Republican Governors Association has promised to intervene in this mess to protect Kemp but is still on the sidelines. With Donald Trump showing up for his horse in the race, why is the RGA still MIA?”
