DGA Releases New Video “Superspreader”
Today, the Democratic Governors Association released a new video, “Superspreader”.
Republican Governor Chris Sununu allowed Donald Trump to schedule a giant superspreader rally in Portsmouth, New Hampshire without implementing any necessary public health measures. It has been widely reported that Trump is specifically picking states for his rallies where he knows governors won’t stand firm on protecting their citizens. Clearly he doesn’t believe that Sununu will protect Granite Staters if it means risking his base.
Sununu noted that he would be staying away from the large crowds at the rally because it’s a health risk — but he didn’t care enough about the risk to everyday Granite Staters who have no way to avoid coming into contact with those who attend the event.
Sununu has repeatedly ignored expert opinion and sent mixed messages to his constituents in the middle of the COVID-19 public health emergency. He told Granite Staters with no evidence that they were at “very low risk” even as experts were warning that deaths nationwide could reach into the millions. And he’s now facing a crisis of deaths in New Hampshire’s nursing homes that tops national lists due to its severity.
“Chris Sununu has clearly decided to put his political interests above the lives and livelihoods of Granite Staters,” said DGA National Press Secretary Jerusalem Demsas. “Chris Sununu himself refused to attend the rally citing concerns about his health but clearly he had no qualms putting service workers and essential workers who can’t stay away at risk. New Hampshire deserves a governor who won’t put politics ahead of people.”
