DGA Highlights Republican Candidates’ Extreme Agenda on MSNBC
In an appearance on The Beat With Ari Melber, Ofirah Yheskel, the DGA’s Director of External Affairs, highlighted Republican candidates’ in North Carolina, New Hampshire and Washington desperate attempts to walk back their most extreme positions on abortion, and touted how Democratic governors deliver real results for millions of Americans.
Yheskel talked about the strength of Democratic governors saying, “Last year in Kentucky, where Governor Beshear was re-elected resoundingly, running strong on that issue in the midterms when we were supposed to see a red wave for Republicans, that never materialized because we saw, again, great governors running hard on those issues, on protecting freedoms, also on delivering for people on kitchen table issues.”
Yheskel also said “This is a dangerous playbook that Republicans across the country are trying to run away from. No matter how hard they try to, they can’t…In some of the states where we are seeing governor’s races—like North Carolina—Republicans are trying to say that they don’t want to ban abortion. They are running ads on TV trying to say that, but I think we all know the truth.”
This comes as Republican candidates for governor Mark Robinson, Kelly Ayotte, and Dave Reichert recently began airing TV ads to lie and deceive voters about their extreme records of opposing abortion rights, with NBC mentioning this pattern of deceit from Republican candidates saying, “The ads come as Republicans grapple with Democratic efforts to brand them as extreme on the issue.”Watch the full interview here.
