DGA Congratulates Governor Dayton on his Reelection

WASHINGTON, DC – Vermont Governor Peter Shumlin, Chair of the Democratic Governors Association, tonight issued the following statement on the reelection of Governor Mark Dayton:

“On behalf of Democratic governors, I’d like to congratulate Governor Mark Dayton on his victory tonight.  Because of his strong, decisive leadership, Governor Dayton turned a $6 billion deficit into a surplus with $150 million in the state’s rainy day fund, and created over 150,000 new private-sector jobs.  Governor Dayton raised the minimum wage, cut taxes for middle-class families, and provided free, universal access to all-day kindergarten.  With the next four years, Governor Dayton will continue his lifelong work of strengthening the middle class and expanding economic opportunity to all.”
