DGA Congratulates Governor Cuomo on his Reelection

WASHINGTON, DC – Vermont Governor Peter Shumlin, Chair of the Democratic Governors Association, tonight issued the following statement on the reelection of Governor Andrew Cuomo:

“On behalf of Democratic governors, I’d like to congratulate Governor Andrew Cuomo on his victory tonight.  Governor Cuomo won reelection because has worked tirelessly to expand economic opportunities for all.  Under Cuomo’s leadership, New York has created 440,000 private sector jobs, unemployment is down in every region of the state and New York has the second highest net job growth.  Cuomo raised the minimum wage, signed one of the most comprehensive gun control measures, passed marriage equality and increased funding for education.  Over the next four years, Governor Cuomo will continue to fight for middle-class families.”
