DGA Chair Shumlin: Strickland a “Great Public Servant for the People of Ohio”
Washington, D.C.—Today, Governor Peter Shumlin, the chair of the Democratic Governors Association, released the following statement on Governor Ted Strickland’s announcement that he will not seek the Democratic nomination for Ohio governor in 2014:
“Ted Strickland has been a great public servant for the people of Ohio- as a congressman, a governor, and a strong voice for working and middle class families across the state. He played an instrumental role in President Obama’s re-election this year and in defeating Governor Kasich’s anti-worker ideological crusade in 2011. While he may not be our candidate for governor, Ohio is one of our top pick-up opportunities and we will continue to work with Governor Strickland to return the seat to Democrats.”
