DGA Chair Andy Beshear Statement on Republicans in D.C. Voting to Hike Health Care Costs

In response to Congressional Republicans’ failure to pass legislation that would reinstate Affordable Care Act subsidies, Democratic Governors Association Chair Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear released the following statement:

“Today, Congressional Republicans had the opportunity to do the right thing and protect access to health care for millions of Americans. Instead, they chose to put partisanship over common sense, jeopardizing the only reason these families had access to health care to begin with. American families are already struggling with high costs and should never have to choose between affording groceries and seeing a doctor, but now thanks to Donald Trump and Congressional Republicans, too many won’t be able to do either.

“Democratic governors have been working hard to protect the people of our states and lower costs in order to make a positive difference in the lives of everyday Americans. The DGA just won by huge margins in Virginia and New Jersey by focusing on affordability – and with 36 races for governor next year, we’re going to keep bringing the fight to Republican candidates for governor who continue to support Donald Trump’s cost-hiking policies.”
