DGA-Backed Group Reserves Over $11 Million in TV Ads in Kentucky

Defending Bluegrass Values, a group backed by the Democratic Governors Association, has reserved over $11 million in TV ads heading into the final months of the Kentucky governor’s race.

The early reservations allow the DGA-backed group to lock in lower prices and reserve prime ad inventory before the airwaves get crowded in the fall.

Defending Bluegrass Values has already launched numerous TV ads across Kentucky, including “Following,” “Surrounding,” and “Outrage,” to hold Daniel Cameron accountable for his failed record of covering for Matt Bevin’s corrupt pardons of violent criminals and pushing to gut health care coverage for nearly 100,000 Kentuckians.

“Reelecting Gov. Andy Beshear is the DGA’s top priority this year, and these major TV reservations will be critical to keeping our foot on the gas heading into the final months of this election,” said DGA Executive Director Meghan Meehan-Draper. “Gov. Andy Beshear always puts politics aside to do right by Kentuckians, from growing the economy to keeping families safe and fighting to improve public schools. Meanwhile, Daniel Cameron is trying to divide Kentuckians and has plans to strip funds from public education and rip away health care from working families. That’s the difference, and it is exactly why Kentuckians will stick with Gov. Beshear for another four years.”

Earlier this month, the DGA announced a record-breaking nearly $34 million raised in Q1 and Q2 of 2023, nearly double what the DGA raised at this same point in 2019 – the last comparable year.

The DGA is coming off a history-defying cycle in 2022, where the organization spent record amounts to help successfully reelect 12 Democratic incumbents and flip three seats. In 2019, the DGA was proud to play a critical role to help Gov. Beshear defeat Matt Bevin, investing over $5 million in Kentucky.
