DGA-Backed Group Making Michigan’s Future Releases New Ad on John James’ Shady Stock Trades Worth Millions

Today, Making Michigan’s Future, a group backed by the Democratic Governors Association, launched the ad “Swamp” that exposes the truth about shady stock trades that John James made while in Congress.

The ad is airing on TV and is part of a seven-figure statewide buy that also includes streaming and digital platforms. It focuses on how James increased his wealth through stock trades between corporations he was supposed to oversee. James even violated the law by failing to disclose some trades and accepted hundreds of millions in illegal campaign contributions.

“Instead of looking out for Michigan families, John James has spent his time in Congress lining his own pockets with shady stock trades,” said Making Michigan’s Future spokesperson Sam Newton. “As working families in Michigan deal with Washington’s cost-hiking policies, it’s important they know how the only issue James cares about is making himself richer.”

You can watch the ad here and read the transcript below:

Swamp

Narrator: When John James said, ‘I’ve deployed to the swamp,” his mission was himself.

In Congress, James made 145 stock trades and even broke the law by failing to disclose his trades.

From utility companies to Big Pharma, James traded millions of dollars, including corporations he was supposed to oversee, and got caught taking over half a million bucks in illegal campaign contributions.

When John James deployed to the swamp, he turned his back on Michigan.
