DGA Announces Initial $10 Million Investment in the Arizona Governor’s Race

The Democratic Governors Association is announcing it will make an initial investment of $10 million to support Governor Katie Hobbs’ re-election campaign.

“The DGA is proud to make this initial investment to support Governor Katie Hobbs. While Arizona is always one of the toughest battleground states, Gov. Hobbs is entering the general election from a strong position because she’s brought both parties together to deliver results that make life better for working families – just like the one she grew up in,” said DGA Chair Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear. “In contrast, Andy Biggs is running with the full-throated support of Donald Trump and Turning Point USA after leading the charge to overturn the 2020 election, voting as a rubber stamp for the GOP’s cost-hiking policies, and even making us all less safe by covering for predators.”

“As national Republicans are set to pour millions into this race to try to make Andy Biggs the first election denier in charge of a swing state, the stakes are incredibly high and the DGA is keeping its foot on the gas to ensure Gov. Hobbs is re-elected and can continue putting Arizona first.”

Arizona is always a very competitive state, where Republicans start with an advantage of more than 300,000 registered voters than Democrats. While it was the closest race for governor in the country when Gov. Hobbs won in 2022, Arizona was the swing state that Trump won by the largest margin in 2024. Polls and independent race raters have shown that this year’s race is a true toss-up.
