DGA Announces $8.2M Raised in Q3, $29.2M In 2016

Q3 numbers mark uptick from 2012; RGA’s Q3 numbers down $1.5M

DGA well positioned to make critical investments in November, and beyond

Today, the Democratic Governors Association (DGA) announced $8.2 million raised across all entities in the third quarter of 2016. The organization’s latest fundraising haul brings the total money raised throughout 2016 up to $29.2 million across all entities.

The DGA’s numbers also mark an uptick from the $8.1 million raised in the third quarter of 2012’s presidential year, and build on the committee’s record setting money clip in 2016. Meanwhile, the Republican Governors Association saw their third quarter fundraising numbers drop $1.5 million from the same period in 2012.

With November’s gubernatorial elections 20 days away, the $8.2 million will allow the DGA to make key investments in the final stretch on 2016, while building for the 2017 and 2018 cycles. The upcoming 2017 and 2018 cycles bring significant opportunity to expand the ranks of Democratic governors, with Republicans forced to defend seats in 12 states that President Obama won twice.

“These strong fundraising numbers will allow the DGA to make critical investments that will help Democrats win in November,” said DGA Executive Director Elisabeth Pearson. “Our third quarter fundraising reflects the growing excitement for Democratic leadership as our governors advance economic strategies that create jobs and grow the middle class.”
