DeWine Faces New Scandal over “Handling Sexual Harassment Cases”
DeWine Protected Friends and Allies from Sexual Harassment Allegations
In case you missed it, the Huffington Post reported last night on a disturbing pattern within Attorney General Mike DeWine’s office of interference when dealing with sexual harassment investigations. According to the Huffington Post, in 2013 DeWine retaliated against an investigator who was investigating his friend for sexual harassment. This “friend” had made an intern so uncomfortable she had to seek counseling and even turned down a job in the Attorney General’s office.
In 2014, DeWine’s office once again inserted itself into a sexual harassment investigation. His office overturned a reprimand for a subordinate who had not reported claims of sexual harassment. This was the first time such findings had been overturned in five years.
“It is appalling Mike DeWine would protect buddies accused of sexual harassment,” said Democratic Governors Association Deputy Communications Director David Turner. “DeWine’s career has been defined by granting favors to his cronies and special interests while selling out everyday people. He seems to make no exception when it comes to selling out women who alleged they were sexually harassed in his office.”
