Desperate to Avoid Trumpcare Questions, Rauner Cancels Fundraising Appearance
The Democratic Governors Association releases the following statement, attributable to DGA Illinois Communications Director Sam Salustro, on Governor Rauner’s last-minute cancelation at a fundraiser:
“Governor Rauner’s decision to cancel an appearance at an Illinois GOP fundraiser shows the lengths he will go to avoid answering for his administration’s inexcusable silence on Trumpcare. Instead of acknowledging the concerns Illinois families have over the impact of Trumpcare, Rauner decided to avoid a bad headline. In canceling his appearance, Rauner acknowledges the unpopularity of the bill among the public, yet still refuses to speak out in favor or against the legislation. This is the definition of putting politics over people.”
