DeSantis Still Doesn’t Have “Anything to Add” On His Dangerous Plans to Ban Abortion
More than a month since the Supreme Court ruled to overturn Roe v. Wade, Ron DeSantis still won’t say how far he’ll take his radical agenda to rip away reproductive rights from Floridians, while refusing to rule out dangerous plans from his own party to completely ban abortion.
In response to widespread criticism and reporting exposing DeSantis for “pivoting away” from his stance on reproductive freedoms, DeSantis’ administration stated “we don’t have anything to add,” to the statement he made following the Dobbs v. Jackson decision that he would “work to expand pro-life protections.”
Before going completely radio silent, DeSantis has previously signed into law an extreme ban on abortion that criminalizes doctors, with no exceptions for survivors of rape, incest or human trafficking, while also signing onto a lawsuit to overturn Roe v. Wade and voted for “the most far-reaching abortion legislation in the House in a decade.”
“DeSantis owes Floridians answers on just how far he’ll take his radical agenda to completely dismantle reproductive freedom,” said DGA Deputy Communications Director Sam Newton. “At a time when reproductive freedoms are under attack like never before, DeSantis’ silence and long record of anti-choice extremism prove he can’t be trusted.”
