Governors: ‘It’s Time for Congress to Stop Enabling President Trump’s Sabotage and Get to Work’

As Congress prepares to bring an omnibus bill to the floor, the leaders of the Democratic Governors Association called on Congressional leaders to stabilize health care for Americans who have been harmed by President Trump’s sabotage of health care.
DGA Chair Gov. Jay Inslee (D-WA), and DGA Vice Chair Gov. Gina Raimondo (D-RI) released the following statement on Wednesday:
“Our constituents are paying the price for President Trump’s deliberate sabotage of health care markets. Americans are losing their health care and seeing their premiums skyrocket due to President Trump’s destructive actions and Republicans’ relentless attempts to repeal the Affordable Care Act.
“The House and Senate should work in a bipartisan way to stabilize health insurance markets across the country to keep middle-class families from losing coverage, through solutions like federal reinsurance, without further increasing Americans’ out-of-pocket costs. Congress should reject any proposals that harm people with pre-existing conditions, restrict women’s access to health care or jack up prices on seniors and low-income families.
“Democratic governors are leading on health care solutions that lower costs and ensure access to care for all our residents. It’s time for Congress to stop enabling President Trump’s sabotage and get to work on bipartisan market stabilization.”
