Dave Reichert’s Far-Right Record Catches Up To Him Over The Weekend

Over the last few days, Dave Reichert’s extreme record continued to catch up to him, as new reporting in The Seattle Times, Jezebel, and Advocate highlighted his extreme record of supporting Donald Trump, comparing abortion bans to hunting regulations, and voting against LGBTQ+ rights.

In fact, the Seattle Times reporting unveiled new comments from a recent event where Reichert declared we need to “Make America Great again!”The Seattle Times added: “Reichert looked relieved to have said Trump’s campaign slogan out loud.”

This comes as a new ad was released last week highlighting Reichert’s harmful record of endangering Washington women by voting to ban abortion nationwide and repeatedly voting to defund Planned Parenthood.

Read more about Dave Reichert’s far right record below:

  • Jezebel: GOP Candidate Said Abortion Bans Are the Same Thing as Hunting Regulations “At a town hall event in August, hosted by the anti-abortion group Firmly Planted Action, Reichert encouraged supporters to push the government ‘toward unraveling’ state funding for Planned Parenthood. He’s also accepted donations from the chairman of Family Policy Institute of Washington, an anti-abortion, anti-LGBTQ group that celebrated the Dobbs ruling as a ‘monumental victory.’”
  • Advocate: Washington’s Republican gubernatorial candidate, Dave Reichert, has history of voting against LGBTQ+ rights “In February, during a meeting with the Pierce County Republican Party, Reichert, who served in Congress from 2005 until 2019, made a homophobic statement, declaring that ‘marriage is between a man and a woman,’ according to a video posted on YouTube. He delivered this line in response to a broader question on transgender rights, where he also voiced opposition to gender-affirming care and allowing transgender youth to participate in sports according to their gender identity.”
  • Seattle Times: Is ‘stop Trump’ enough to power Democrats? In WA it is
  • “Excitement is ‘happening all across America,’ he told the crowd, per a video of the meetup. There are ‘groups like us meeting, and hearing a message that needs to be delivered. With some encouragement to people that we can … we can … ‘ — and here he looked furtively to the right, then to the left, as if to check if anyone was listening — ‘make America great again!’”
