Daniel Cameron’s New Running Mate Led Matt Bevin Charge to Gut Retirements for Teachers, Police, Firefighters

After being publicly snubbed by his first choice, Daniel Cameron officially announced that he’s going to be stuck with state Senator Robby Mills, who is best known for backing Matt Bevin’s harmful and unpopular agenda that slashed the hard-earned retirements for public school teachers, police officers, firefighters, and other first responders.

When he served as Attorney General, Andy Beshear took Bevin’s retirement-cutting bill to the Kentucky Supreme Court and got it struck down. Mills was a leading proponent for a special session to pass the same harmful law again. Cameron and Mills also both support a scheme that would rip millions of taxpayer dollars away from struggling public schools and give the funds to rich private schools.

“By selecting the politician who helped lead Matt Bevin’s push to slash pensions for teachers, police and firefighters and strip funds away from public schools, Daniel Cameron threatens to take Kentucky back to the days where working families were left behind and public education was constantly under attack,” said DGA States Press Secretary Emma O’Brien. “That deeply harmful agenda is wrong for Kentucky and today’s decision from Daniel Cameron shows once again why he is unfit to be governor.”
