Cooper Outraises McCrory for 4th Straight Filing Period

Cooper outpaces McCrory by nearly $2M in first filing period since HB2, builds $3M CoH advantage in final 5 months

Today, new finance reports show North Carolina Gov. Pat McCrory has been outraised by Democratic Attorney General Roy Cooper for the fourth straight filing period.

Cooper reported a record $5.12 million raised, beating McCrory by $1.9 million in 2016’s second filing period, which ran from March 1 through June 30. The numbers also grew Cooper’s cash-on-hand advantage to $3.1 million heading into the final five months of the campaign.

Cooper has now raised $12.7 million total, more than any other candidate in North Carolina at this point in the race. McCrory’s total amount raised is $7.8 million.

“It’s rare for an incumbent governor to be outraised by such wide margins,” said DGA Communications Director Jared Leopold. “This is another sign of a McCrory campaign in crisis. Governor McCrory trails in fundraising, and is saddled with upside-down approval ratings and the economic disaster caused by his House Bill 2. After being outraised for the 4th straight filing period, it’s no wonder why Pat McCrory is 2016’s most vulnerable governor in America.”

FUNDRAISING BY THE NUMBERS:
