Connecticut Gov. Ned Lamont Delivers Lower Gas Prices, Signs Bill to Suspend State Gas Tax
Across The Country, Democratic Governors Work to Bring Relief to Americans at the Pump
Connecticut families will see savings at the pump, thanks to Gov. Ned Lamont. After convening with legislators on how to give consumers relief from Putin’s price hike, Gov. Lamont signed a bipartisan bill to suspend the state’s gas tax.

The bill also includes a sales tax holiday for consumers and free bus service for three months. Gov. Lamont’s strong record also includes fixing the state budget and fighting to cut taxes for working families.
Across the country, Democratic governors are taking action to bring relief to consumers and lower prices. Democratic Govs. Whitmer, Polis, Evers, Wolf, Walz, and Lujan Grisham, all signed a letter urging federal lawmakers to suspend the federal gas tax.
Other Democratic governors, including California Gov. Gavin Newsom and Maine Gov. Janet Mills, are proposing giving checks directly to drivers and taxpayers to offset rising costs.
“Gov. Lamont worked incredibly quickly to ease the burden felt by working families,” said DGA Deputy Communications Director Sam Newton. “Now, thanks to his decisive leadership, Connecticut drivers will see savings at the gas pump. Taking action to help families where they need it most — that’s what Democratic governors do best.”
