Congressman Tiffany Voted to Repeal ACA Tax Credits. Tens of Thousands of Wisconsinites Lost Their Coverage.

New reporting from the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reveals that, thanks to Congressman Tom Tiffany’s opposition to extending the Affordable Care Act tax credits that kept health care premiums from surging, tens of thousands of Wisconsinites now have health coverage through the Affordable Care Act.

This nearly 16 percent drop in coverage comes after Congressman Tiffany voted last year for the disastrous GOP budget bill that gutted Medicaid, drove up costs, and threatened rural hospitals — calling it “a major win for the American people.” If there were any doubt about Congressman Tiffany’s opposition to keeping health care affordable, he even pushed a plan that would have turned Medicare into a voucher system, making care more expensive for seniors and effectively ending the program as we know it.

“Congressman Tom Tiffany’s extreme agenda has driven up costs for Wisconsinites at every turn,” said DGA spokesperson Izzi Levy. Now, tens of thousands fewer Wisconsinites have health care coverage as a direct result of Congressman Tiffany voting to make health insurance more expensive. Wisconsinites deserve a governor who will fight to protect health care and bring down costs, not an extremist who leaps at every opportunity to make life harder and more expensive.”
