Caught on Tape: Gillespie Reveals Plan to Defund Planned Parenthood

The Latest in a String of Attacks on Women’s Health

Yesterday, Virginia Republican gubernatorial candidate Ed Gillespie was caught on video telling voters he would sign a bill to defund Planned Parenthood in the commonwealth.
Watch here:

GILLESPIE: “I would sign a bill that does not have taxpayer funding go to Planned Parenthood.”
It’s not the first time Gillespie has attacked women’s reproductive rights in the campaign. In a debate during the Republican primary, Gillespie told the audience he, “would like to see abortion be banned.” He was also endorsed in June by National Right to Life for his commitment to pursue legislation attacking a woman’s right to choose.
“This video is just the latest episode in a string of attacks from Ed Gillespie on women’s rights,” said DGA Communications Director Jared Leopold. “The fact is that Ed Gillespie stands lockstep with Donald Trump and Mike Pence in defunding Planned Parenthood and restricting women’s health. Virginia needs a governor like Ralph Northam who will protect and strengthen access to health care for all women in Virginia.”
