Brian Kemp Says NO to Exceptions for Rape or Incest

For Brian Kemp, the 6-week ban on abortion — before most women even know they know are pregnant — that he signed in 2019 doesn’t go far enough.

Axios is reporting that Kemp has “stated his own position as a complete ban on abortion, save for an exception in the case of threatening the life of a mother.”

The Atlanta Journal-Consitution also added that Kemp “personally supports banning abortion” with no exceptions for rape and incest.

Kemp has also refused to rule out radical plans proposed by his party that would criminalize nurses and doctors that provide reproductive health care and ban contraception.

While Kemp remains dead-set on eliminating reproductive health care access for Georgians, he’s still refusing to expand Medicaid, which could cover at least 400,000 more Georgians in need of health insurance, according to estimates.

DGA Deputy Communications Director Sam Newton said, “Brian Kemp has already made it clear he couldn’t care less about the health and safety of Georgians. Now that Roe has been overturned, he’s pushing to outlaw abortion before most women even know they’re pregnant, and he’s refused to rule out dangerous calls from GOP officials to jail doctors that provide abortions and ban contraception. The only way to stop him and restore reproductive rights to millions of Georgians is to elect Stacey Abrams this November.”
