BREAKING: Democratic Governors Now Represent the Majority of Americans
Democratic Governors Association Chair Governor Jay Inslee (D-WA) issued the following statement on the fact that a majority of Americans will now be governed by Democratic governors. With the call of the Wisconsin and Nevada races, Democrats now represent more than 170 million people, more than half of Americans.
“Tonight, a majority of Americans can look to their state capital and know they have a Democratic governor fighting for them,” Inslee said. “This is a significant milestone: Democratic governors now represent a majority of the American population. This means that a majority of Americans will have a governor who’ll protect health care access for people with pre-existing conditions, invest in strong public schools, and fight for an inclusive economy with opportunities for all.
“Democratic governors are a critical counterweight to the chaos and failed policies of Washington D.C., and we will continue to make progress on behalf of the people we serve.”
